Peters Ford History

My first car I bought in 1980. It was a Volvo Amazon 1963. I might put up a picture of it later !

But now my Ford history begins..... I traded my Amazon against a Ford Tanus 17M. My first Ford !
I cant find any good picture of it but I am looking ! I had very much fun with it and I got hooked on Fords.
I put in new "teddy" upholstery on doors and seats, a new 11 inch steering weel,
"High-Jackers" and some huge backweels to get it just the way I wanted it.

I was wery sad when my 17M burned down, during one of my rust repairs !
( It almost burned down my workplace, me and two new Mercedes along with it.. )

After my 17M burnd down I was forced to get a new Ford. And I got a really nice one !

This Ford is a Ford Granada 2,3 L V6 1975.
We always called it "The brown Ford" or in Swedish "Bruna Forden".
The Brown Ford was wery beautiful and fast ! It served me well in 10 years and was still running when I sold it in 1995 !

If I was not alredy hooked on Fords this was the one with the big "F" in my life ! And it made me want for more.

Ford Granada 2,3 liters V6 1975

As I needed a second vehicle I was looking for another car,
and my next Ford was my first Estatewagon or Kombi as we call it in Sweden.
I bought it cheap and fixed it up with new engine and all.

-The same week as I had fixed the new engine, I was working late one January night. When I was driving home in the dark, I was blinded by somethings headlights on my side of the road, and in the same time a timbertruck was on the opposite side !!! What to do ? I step on the breaks all that I can, but it was too close. The last thing I remeber is that I am thinking "- What the hell is this thing I am crashing into ? "

After my car stopped I could see that it was a Farming tractor with a huge sowing machine on the back !!! In the middle of the winter, at 10 in the evening this farmer had to move his tractor and machine to the service station ! Ok its an unususal time to do it, but the worst of it all was that he had to turn on all his working lights, so that he was blinding everyone backwards on the road ! The Policemen on the crashsite was wery uppset by this !

As you can see it was quite a reck and the inssurance company sent it to the yard ! :-(

The only good part of this story is that the tractor driver lost his driving license for a couple of months !

Ford Granada 2,6 liters V6 GL Aut 1976

Now I wanted a Ford 2,8i with automatic shift. 2,8i is Fords V6 engine with 156 hp and direct fuelinjection,
a really fast engine ! After looking around half of Sweden I found it!
I was lucky to get my "Blue Queen" a Ford Granada 2,8i L 1978. She was a real beauty !

This car was a "longmiler", when it burnd down it had 400.000 km ( 250.000 miles ) on it !
The only problem we had with this car, was that I had to change cylinderhead 2 times and that I blow a piston once going 190 km/h ( 120 miles/h ) !

Both me and my wife loved this car, and my wife cried alot when the engine room burnt out all by it self one day ! Injection trouble said the inssurance man ! And then he sent it to the yard ! :-(

Now we was glad that we had our Brown Ford to ride in ! But I wanted a new 2,8i to drive so I looked everywhere after a good one to buy, but no ! Not a nice Ford for sale in 3 month ! I was nearly giving up. But so one day I got a call from a Ford salesman in a town 100 miles (160 km) away. He said he had a good one coming in !
We speeded our old Ford to see the new car, and it was nice ( almost as new ) but very expensive !
We liked it and the bank was willing to "give" us the money so we bougt our "Silver Queen".
A distinguished car with lots of ego !

Ford Granada 2,8 liters fuelinjection V6 L Aut. 1985

The Silver Ford is a Granada 2,8iL 1985 and it serves us well even today. I bought it when it had 100.000 km on it, and today it is 200.000 km on the speedometer.
The only thing I have done to it is regual service, nothing else in repair !
This 15 years old car did not have any remark, at the annual Swedish motor vehicle testing in Dec 1998.

I dont know what to do in the future, because 1985 was the last year of the Ford model Granada.
And the European Fords of today is either to small or to ugly for me !
Maybe a US Ford can be our next Ford - I dont know ! ?
